Welcome to What to Watch!

This site will tell you what I'm watching, what I think of it, and who I think would like it. I watch a lot of stuff and I want to share that with you! In my reviews I try to stay positive, so if something is not here, I've either not seen it, or I didn't like it and therefore don't recommend.

This site is recently launched, so there's not a lot of content yet. I'm doing this for fun and a warmup for a big writing project! Comments & thoughts are appreciated!

One Day

Starring: Ambika Mod, Leo Woodall
(8/10)
Limited Series, 14 Episodes
This British limited series on Netflix takes its time to unfold, but once it does, it transports you to unexpected places. "One Day" boasts two exceptional young actors and a strong supporting cast, crafting a compelling narrative that kept me engaged from the start. The themes tackled are sobering yet thought-provoking, adding depth to the story. While the journey may be a slow burn, the payoff is worth it, neatly tying up loose ends by the end. As someone who appreciates the gift of sobriety, I found these themes particularly resonant.

Binge: Very bingeworthy - I watched all 14 episodes in one day.

Daisy Jones & the Six

Starring: Riley Keough, Sam Claflin, Camila Morrone, Suki Waterhouse
(7/10)
Limited Series, 10 Episodes
Daisy Jones and the Six may have been loosely inspired by the tale of Fleetwood Mac, but it's a story that stands on its own. This series follows a band, initially just mediocre, that ascends to superstardom upon adding the captivating singer Daisy Jones to the mix. The narrative revolves around the collision of egos, simmering sexual tension, and the power of music, with some memorable tunes along the way. While not flawless, the series offers plenty of entertainment value. Riley Keough delivers a standout performance, and Camila Morrone's portrayal is heartwarming. Overall, Daisy Jones and the Six is an engaging watch that's sure to leave you wanting more.

Binge: Once you start good luck stopping!

Griselda

Starring: SofĂa Vergara, Alberto Guerra
(10/10)
Limited Series, 6 Episodes
For years, I've been eagerly anticipating the story of Griselda Blanco, and let me tell you, it's even more intense than you could imagine. Blanco's tale is one of sheer audacity as she seizes control of the drug trade in Miami, showing no mercy along the way. In an industry dominated by men, she fought tooth and nail to claim her rightful place and refused to back down. If you were a fan of the gritty '80s vibe of Miami Vice, Griselda is right up your alley. This series pulls no punches, delivering a raw and unflinching portrayal of violence and power struggles. Sofia Vergara delivers a mesmerizing performance, bringing Blanco's complex character to life with authenticity and depth. While I have high hopes for awards recognition, the January release date might pose a challenge in that regard. Nevertheless, Griselda is a must-watch for fans of gripping crime dramas.

(9/10)
Limited Series, 9 Episodes
In Inventing Anna, Julia Garner shines as she embodies the real-life tale of Anna Delvey, a Russian immigrant who arrives in New York with dreams of achieving the American Dream. Embracing the mantra of 'Fake it till you make it,' Anna comes tantalizingly close to realizing her ambitions. However, her downfall ultimately stems from her outlandish demeanor. The series proves to be thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable, offering a fascinating glimpse into Anna's wild journey. What's even more astonishing is that this unbelievable story is based on real events.
